Fortress - Historical Hotel close to Seville

Guillena ref. 309-00937P

This estate today called Cortijo de Torre de la Reina was a caliphal fortress of defence of Seville and later camp of King D. Fernando III the Saint during the Reconquest in the year 1248. In the late thirteenth and early fourteenth century it was owned by Queen Maria de Molina, wife of Sancho IV el Bravo, which gave its name forever to this building.

The fortress is of great interest because it is not only a royal possession but also the only rural building of that time that is preserved in Seville.
Necessities of the exploitation of the estate demanded to extend the set, forgetting its military sense, organizing a rural estate with Renaissance character.

For its architecture and the variety and conservation of its extensive and beautiful gardens, it was declared a National Monument.

Today it is used as a charming hotel and a place for celebrations. It has 16 rooms, 16,000 m² of beautiful Mudejar, romantic and Hispano-Arabic gardens, unique in Seville, a conference and celebration hall, as well as a swimming pool in a wonderful setting, and parking for several vehicles.

There is a project to expand the hotel, with the possibility of building 30 rooms.
